Sorry Mopar, This Challenger lacks "It"
Skip man I'm not missing the point. I realize what the Challenger means to some people. One of my best friends is a mopar fanboy. I love the look of the new Challenger and I may still someday buy one.
We were discussing performance/$ in general here. Other considerations were secondary. That's what the banter was about.
Personally, I like the look of the Challenger better than the Mustang. But I'm picking up a Mustang this weekend - because it's not just about the looks or the "mystique" to me.
To each his own. I'm just glad we have so much choice in the matter nowadays!

Thanks. It's an 06 GT manual w/the premium package. Has 4000 miles on it. Going to drive down to Salt Lake and pick it up on Friday. Has some black Bullitt rims.

Just kidding we actually have an 06 Mustang GT in the family as well. Congrats on yours.

07 has a better stereo. lol. Just kidding. It does seem to have more output then the 06, but other then that there's no difference. I seem to have a rattle problem on both however. The 06 something rattled and now on this one something rattles, two things actually. Something in the glove box area on occasion and something in the back window area. I can't find either for the life of me. Almost wonder if I have an older truck. lol.
the only mustang i would have is a GT-H Shelby vert with the 325 hp. Supposed to actually handle better than the gt500 but i think that is because of less power and better weight balance. Unfortunately the used ones are selling in the 60's. They only made a few of them in the vert body style.
Ripetide, I give you credit for that; however, one example after dozens of examples that show it as 5.1 or slower is not sufficient to prove that it will do the 4.9 sec everytime as they claim that they claim it will. The fact is I have even seen one case with the LX cars doing 4.6 sec, but I will not use it because I cannot find a second publication to prove it. No matter how you cut it, the GT is simply not as fast as the GT and is logically not in the same class. The LX SRT-8s cars were said to do the acceleration times in the low 5s, yet magazine after magazine shows them doing it under 5 secs. The simple issue here is consistency. One time does not prove that number is completely accurate. The issue here is Ford tends to overrate (provide faster times than what is normally achieved) their acceleration times and Chrysler tends to underrate them (slower than normally achieved). Remember that the 300C was originally stated to accelerate in the lower 6 sec range when it pretty consistently accelerates from 5.9 secs to 5.3 secs.
Having said this, if a Mustang is what you want, then more power to you, but just know that the GT is not the equal to an SRT-8 Challenger.
