Lets see how many get the same response.
I got a different response:

"Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center regarding the color of 2009 Dodge Challenger. We are pleased to read of your interest in the 2009 Dodge Challenger and appreciate the time and effort you took to us. (sic) At this time, Chrysler LLC has not released any official information regarding the addition of new colors to the 2009 Dodge Challenger. We have documented your interest and we encourage you to stay in contact with us through the Dodge website: www.Dodge.com If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-992-1997 for assistance.

Thanks again for your email and for giving us an opportunity to assist you.

Sincerely,
Roger Marshal
Customer Service Representative
Chrysler Customer Assistance Center"

My response seems a little less like a canned response if only because they goofed and left out a word. And the fact that it does mention colors specifically.

Getting out my Suit-Speak Decoder Ring...

My response's inclusion of "Chrysler LLC has not released any official information regarding the addition of new colors" translates to "when we want you to know, you'll know."

Paladin06's response said "we mainly rely on our worldwide employees, affiliate suppliers, and creative agencies to devise and develop innovations", which translates to "we have people on the payroll to come up with ideas, we don't need yours." I'm sorry, but that quote smelled of "We value your business, but keep your thoughts to yourself." [:@]

Oh well, I can be happy with the colors available. It would just be nice to see a little more variety.

I can't help but laugh at this... Aren’t you building cars for the customer. I think the customer is telling you something... And they wonder why they are having problems... gezz

This is part of the response I got:
To best capture your thoughts, please visit our http://www.ChryslerListens.com
website and click on the "Tell Us What You Think" ribbon. You will be
taken to a page specifically meant for this type of customer input that
will be forwarded to the departments most interested in hearing from
you.
So I went ahead and used that link.
You have to put a lot of hours into working to pay for a Challenger, so I think it's worth it to put some time into getting the color you want.

OK, I hopped aboard this bandwagon and requested Plum Crazy at both sites, noting that not offering it may force me to have a brand-new car repainted before I even get it home. Now, everyone needs to demand STANDARD script Challenger badging on all models and optional 15-inch Rallye wheels.

I agree. This is pretty stupid especially considering their new ad campaign which is "you tell us what you want and we'll do it." On the redletter dodge blog they ASKED us what colors we'd like to see on the challenger and that they were going to make a poll. It's been 3 weeks and still no poll. Go read the post asking about mopar colors on redletterdodge.com and tell me if you see anyone asking for titanium grey. NO! There's 75 posts, most asking for sublime, plum crazy, top banana and other standout colors.

I don’t think they'll offer more than 1-2 real impact colors (sublime, hemi orange, plum crazy) at a time ala Charger. They will probably swap out impact colors every few years. For example the Super Bee Charger color this year is not detonator yellow but b5 blue and the Daytona color is Hemi Orange. I guess the same will be done for the challenger. They are seven colors at launch, so they cover everything but earth tones, so probably that olive or maybe a darker grey will be added.

You're probably right, Joey. That's the trouble with Chrysler in its latest reincarnation -- it's FORGOTTEN the heady days of the Dodge Rebellion era and has become too conservative, quiet and CORPORATE. Probably, if the Challenger decision hadn't been made in the Dr. Z era, our cars wouldn't even be being built now.

Just for the hell of it, how much does a good paintjob cost these days? I'm assuming I could move up to an R/T for what it would cost to change the color.

I think a high quality paint job costs several thousand dollars. IIRC, a recent magazine article about a restored wagon said that they paid $7,000 for the paint.
So it'd be a lot cheaper if we could just get Dodge to change their policy.

You're right. I looked into having my (now destroyed) '94 Thunderbird repainted at a highly reputable body shop a few years ago and at that time, it would have been $4,500. And the car needed absolutely no body work, just paint. Needless to say, I went to Maaco, paid $1,000 and it lasted about two and a half years.
